AI Act classification is use-case specific
A humanoid is not automatically high-risk because it is a robot. Intended purpose, safety function, actors and deployment context matter. The Council adopted the AI Omnibus regulation on 29 June 2026, setting 2 December 2027 for stand-alone high-risk systems and 2 August 2028 for product-integrated high-risk systems; Official Journal publication is still the legal publication checkpoint. The linked Commission classification guidelines remain a non-binding draft under consultation until 23 July 2026.

Machinery rules change in January 2027
The current consolidated legal text applies Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 from 14 January 2027 and preserves transitional treatment for products placed on the market in conformity with Directive 2006/42/EC before that date.

CE is a declaration, not EU approval
The manufacturer performs the applicable assessment and issues the EU Declaration of Conformity. Importers of non-EU products have specific checks and traceability duties.
